Welcome to हिंदी साहित्य दर्पण (hindisahityadarpan.in). These Terms of Use ("Terms") explain the rules for using this website, reading our articles, buying our eBooks and sending us anything. In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean हिंदी साहित्य दर्पण, and "you" means anyone who visits or uses the website (the "Website").
By using the Website you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the Website.
1. What this Website is
हिंदी साहित्य दर्पण is a Hindi literature and reading website. It publishes articles, stories, quotes, dohe, shlokas, reflections and similar writing, and links to the eBooks we publish. Everything on the Website is shared for information, education and enjoyment.
2. Changes to these Terms
We may change the Website, and these Terms, at any time. Changes take effect when they are posted on this page, and we will update the "Last updated" date at the top whenever we do. Please look at this page now and then. If you keep using the Website after a change is posted, you accept the new Terms.
3. Who the Website is for
The Website is written mainly for readers in India. We do not promise that its content or our eBooks are suitable or available in other countries. If you use the Website from outside India, you do so at your own risk and are responsible for following your local laws.
The Website is meant for a general audience. If you are under 18, please use it with the guidance of a parent or guardian.
4. Using our content
You are welcome to read the Website, share links to it, and keep or print small portions of its content for your own personal, non-commercial use, as long as you leave every copyright and credit notice in place.
You may quote a short excerpt of an article if you clearly credit हिंदी साहित्य दर्पण and link back to the original page, to the extent the law allows.
Without our written permission, you may not:
- copy, republish, translate, sell or distribute a significant part of the Website's content, design or layout, in any form or medium;
- use the content, in whole or in part, on another website, app, video channel, book or social media page without credit and permission;
- use the content for any commercial purpose; or
- use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to collect content or data from the Website in bulk.
5. Copyright and trademarks
The articles, original writing, images, graphics, layout and design of the Website, and the name and logo of हिंदी साहित्य दर्पण, belong to us or are used with permission, and are protected by Indian and international copyright law. Using or downloading them does not transfer any ownership to you.
Many of the texts we write about, such as classical works, folk tales and the dohe of saint-poets, are traditional or in the public domain. What we own is our own wording, selection, arrangement, commentary and artwork. Quotes and excerpts from other authors remain the property of their respective owners and are shown with attribution wherever we can identify the source.
We respect the intellectual property of others and expect you to do the same.
6. Copyright complaints and takedown requests
If you believe something on the Website copies your work without permission, please email us at nisheeth@hindisahityadarpan.in and include:
- your name and a way to contact you (email, and a phone number or address if you have one);
- a description of the work you say has been copied, and proof that you own it or act for the owner;
- the exact web address (URL) of the material you want removed;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement that the information you have given is accurate, and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
We review each complaint and, where it appears valid, remove or disable access to the material. We handle complaints under the Copyright Act, 1957 (India) and honour valid takedown notices under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Where someone repeatedly infringes the rights of others, we may remove their submissions and refuse to publish their work in future.
7. eBooks and purchases
We publish eBooks that are sold through third-party stores such as Amazon Kindle (KDP) and Google Play Books. Please note:
- This Website does not take payments. When you choose "Amazon" or "Google Play" on our eBooks page, you leave the Website, and your purchase is between you and that store.
- Prices, availability, payment, delivery, refunds and returns are decided by the store, and its terms and policies apply to your purchase.
- When you buy an eBook you receive a licence to read it for your own personal use under the store's terms. You may not copy, resell, share or republish the book or any part of it, except as the store's terms or the law allow.
- Our eBooks are original compilations, editions and rewrites of traditional and public-domain works. We hold the rights in our own wording, arrangement, commentary and cover art.
If you have a problem with an eBook itself (for example a formatting error or a mistake in the text), please write to us at the email address below.
8. Advertising, affiliate links and third-party links
- Advertising. The Website may show advertisements served by third-party advertising networks. These networks may use cookies to show you ads. Please read our Privacy Policy for how cookies and your data are handled.
- Affiliate links. Some links on the Website, including links to products on Amazon, may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. This does not change what we write or recommend.
- Other websites. We link to other websites for your convenience. We do not control or endorse them, and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices. If you follow a link to another site, you do so at your own risk, and that site's own terms apply.
9. Guest posts, comments and anything you send us
You can send us writing through our Write For Us page, leave comments on articles, or email us. Any extra terms on the Write For Us page apply to guest posts in addition to these Terms.
When you send us or post anything (a guest article, a comment, an email, a photo or an idea), you confirm that:
- you wrote it, or you have permission from the owner to share it;
- it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and it does not break the law or harm anyone;
- it is not defamatory, threatening, obscene or harassing, and it does not contain viruses or harmful code; and
- it does not copy other people's work without permission.
You keep ownership of what you send. By sending it for publication, you give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to publish, edit, format, translate and promote it on the Website and on our social media channels. We may edit for length, clarity and style, and we may decline to publish or remove anything at any time without giving a reason.
If you do not want an idea or business information to be shared or published, please do not send it to us. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, we are not bound to keep submissions confidential. Email can be intercepted by others, so please think before you send private information.
You are responsible for what you post. If someone makes a claim against us because of content you provided, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it. We may remove comments that are abusive, unlawful, off-topic, spam or otherwise unsuitable, and we have no duty to monitor comments. Disagreements with other users are between you and them.
10. Acceptable use and spam
You must use the Website lawfully. You must not:
- do anything that damages, disables, overloads or interferes with the Website or other people's use of it;
- try to get into, or get information from, any part of the Website you are not meant to reach;
- collect email addresses from the Website using automated tools or by harvesting; or
- post or send unsolicited advertising, promotions or other forms of solicitation to other users or to us.
For genuine business or partnership enquiries, please write to nisheeth@hindisahityadarpan.in or use our Contact Us page.
11. Information only, not professional advice
The Website is a general information and reading resource. It is not tailored to your personal situation.
- Health and wellbeing. Articles on health, nutrition, yoga, fitness, mental wellbeing and lifestyle are for general information and are not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Please speak to a qualified doctor or health professional before changing your diet, exercise or medication, and for any health concern. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services or a doctor straight away.
- Religion, spirituality and mythology. Our writing on scriptures, epics, rituals, vrat, festivals and traditions reflects popular beliefs, traditional texts and our own interpretation. Practices and accounts differ between regions, families and traditions. Please follow the guidance of your own tradition or teacher where it matters to you.
- Legal, financial and other matters. Nothing on the Website is legal, tax, accounting, financial, insurance or other professional advice. Please consult a qualified professional for your own circumstances.
12. No warranties
The Website and its content are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promise, express or implied, that the content is accurate, complete, current or reliable, that it is suitable for any particular purpose, that it does not infringe anyone's rights, or that the Website will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors, viruses or other harmful components. We have no duty to update the content. You are responsible for how you use the Website and its content, and for protecting your own device and data.
13. Limitation of liability
You use the Website and its content at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss or damage that arises from your use of, or reliance on, the Website or its content, or from errors, omissions, delays, interruptions, loss of data, viruses, unauthorised access or failures in transmission, whether or not we were told such loss was possible. Some laws do not allow certain limits on liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under law that cannot be limited by agreement.
14. Ending access
We may block or limit access to the Website, or to any part of it, for anyone who breaks these Terms, and we may remove any content that does not follow them. We may also do whatever we reasonably think necessary to protect the safety of our readers or the public.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. If a dispute arises, please write to us first so we can try to settle it informally.
16. Contact us
For questions about these Terms, copyright complaints, eBook problems or business enquiries, email nisheeth@hindisahityadarpan.in or use our Contact Us page.
