अपि स्वर्णमयी लंका न मे रोचति लक्ष्मण |
जननी जन्मभूमिश्च स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी ||

"लक्ष्मण, ये सोने की लंका मुझे सुहावन नहीं लगती, माता और मातृभूमि मुझे इस स्वर्ग से ज्यादा प्यारी है ।"

ये श्लोक वाल्मीकि रामायण के राम-लक्ष्मण संवाद से लिया गया है । यह श्लोक इस पावन विजयदशमी के अवसर पर बहुत ही उपयुक्त साबित होती है । हजारों वर्षों पहले जब विजयदशमी के दिन राम ने रावण पर विजय प्राप्त की थी तो प्रभु श्री राम ने लक्ष्मण से कहा था की वे सोने की लंका और उसके धन-धान्य के इच्छुक नहीं हैं बल्कि वे अपनी मातृभूमि में रहना पसंद करेंगे।

Lakshman, This Golden Lanka does not allure me. Mother and Motherland is dearer to me even than heaven. This 'Shloka' is from the conversation between Lord Shree Ram and Lakshmana in 'Valmiki Ramayana'. It is very appropriate to remember the shloka on the occasion of Vijayadashami. Over six thousand years ago, after the great Victory over Ravana, on the day of Vijayadashami, Lord Shree Ram tells Lakshmana that He was not interested in the wealth of Lanka and did never want to rule Lanka. He would rather go back to His Motherland.
